rowboatsTyee Fishing (Rowing the Tyee Pool)

From August 1st to September 15th our guests have the opportunity to enjoy a style of fishing unique to Campbell River. Every year a phenomenon occurs. Chinook salmon head back to the Campbell River, but before heading up the river they congregate in the Tyee Pool at the mouth of the Campbell, pairing up and preparing for their final journey up the river. The style for fishing the pool became a tradition and later a club was formed. The Tyee Club was created in 1925. This fishery is designed specifically to fairly catch the big Chinook in the pool. The rules are very strict and apply to everyone who fishes in the pool. An angler must fish only in a row boat using light tackle, artificial lures and plugs in hope of landing a "Tyee", a chinook/King salmon in excess of 30 lbs. If you land one you too can become a part of history and a member of the celebrated "Tyee Club". An incredible experience that can take you back in time and an absolute must for the enthusiastic angler.
